Ms. Deborah Owen of Media, Inc., announces the opening of Creative Writing Institute on October 5, 2008. The fully mentored school introduces a new teaching concept that results in lower tuition due to its non-profit status. It will be interesting to see how it fairs against competitive writing schools.

“We live in a day of brainwashing,” said Mrs. Owen, CEO and Founder. “Both government and society would have us believe that only traditional schools should teach the populace. I beg to differ. Just look at the half million parents who are home schooling their children, and those children are excelling above traditionally taught students. What does that tell us? It tells us that society is neither using nor honoring the oldest existing tool in education – mentors.

“In some places, mentors hold a high position in society. They are regarded as equal with traditional teachers, and they mingle with lawyers, doctors and other professionals with social grace. This doesn’t seem to be true in America.

“I can’t boast a college education, but both of my children can. In fact, my daughter is an elementary school teacher. But truth be told, a mentor’s abilities, combined with a lifetime of experience, can match those of a traditional teacher.

Creative Writing Institute proudly presents a school of mentoring for upcoming writing students – mentors who will not teach at the student, but who will walk with the student through the maze of journalistic rules and regulations.
